Following on from our post last week detailing a few of the commonly asked questions surrounding spray painting and the all important answers you need, we at Paint Spray Tools felt there were a few questions that still remained unanswered so have put this post together in order to help you out. Read on to find the answers you need to ensure your next spray painting project is a sure-fire success;
How Do I Prevent the Tip of My Spray Painting Equipment Clogging?
A clogged tip on your spray painting equipment can be a common problem and will of course delay a project whilst you resolve it. In order to reduce the risk of this occurring, one tip for airless paint spraying is to clean the tip after each use by swivelling the nozzle 180 degrees and giving a quick blast of the trigger.
How Do I Unclog the Tip?
If you do happen to have clogged up the tip of your equipment, this can be cleared by first putting on eye protection before then wiping the tip with a cloth and either warm water or paint thinner. Don’t ever try to unclog the tip by poking thin wires or pins down it as this could damage your equipment.
What Should I Do if Dirt Gets Onto My Fresh Paint?
One of the most infuriating things after you have seemingly completed your project is to notice a patch of dirt has been blown onto the wet surface. Dealing with this does depend on how much dirt is on the surface as you can either remove the paint in the area that has been affected or alternatively paint over the area and then do so again once it has dried.
How Can Paint Be Removed?
Every can of paint should offer instructions on it as to how to remove paint, so follow these for the very best results. In general, most paints can be removed with the use of a lacquer thinner.
What is a Recoat Window?
The recoat window should also be stated on the can of paint you are using and is the timeframe within which additional coats can be added before the paint needs to be left to dry.
Hopefully with this post and our previous one, you now have a much clearer understanding of spray painting and have some of the answers to the questions you may have had when completing a project previously.
